Sumario:The growing development of technology and the role of television in the Brazilian society have highlighted the usability of journalism as a vehicle that allows access to information, the formation of opinions and the debate for the citizenship construction. In this sense, we understand that the Sebastião Salgado’s work can be a central element in the formation of ethical and solidary people within a society in which the individualism overlaps with other values. Thus, the aim of our manuscript is to point the potentialities of the Sebastião Salgado’s work, in order to contribute to the debate on the citizenship construction in Brazil. We conducted a qualitative research with bibliographic studies and the analysis of photographs and programs from Youtube. We are affiliated to cultural studies, since this work focuses in the debates on the different cultures and the manner to live in society.
