| Sumario: | The goal of this study is to describe the methods taken to issues of racism, sexual and gender diversity, and their interconnections in research on teaching biology and education. From a decolonial viewpoint, writings on biology and its teaching during the years 2008 to 2021, via a review and quantitative and qualitative analysis of the works published in recent editions and recollections of events in the Bio-grafía Magazine: Writings on biology and its teaching. We draw attention to the fact that these issues are marginal in the field, with three alternative approaches: (a) reproducing violence, (b) recognition of diversity and difference, and (c) acknowledging previous oppressive institutions and potential resistance to them. The article highlights barriers to and possibilities for an intersectional approach to issues of racism, ethnicity, gender, and sexual orientation in the instruction of biology and environmental education. |
