Resumo:The text bellow presents an essay by Florencia Garramuño, which introduces her own translation of Spanish of the novel Vidas secas, by Graciliano Ramos, published in 2001, and seeks to contextualize briefly the essay within the cultural exchanges between Brazil and Argentina. After the presentation follows the Brazilian version of "El regionalismo equívoco de Vidas secas" in which the author proposes a reassessment of the relations between the concepts of modernism, regionalism and realism within the context of Brazilian culture during the first half of the twentieth century. Director of the Brazilian culture program at San Andrés University in Buenos Aires, Florencia Garramuño is the author of Modernidades primitivas: Tango, samba e nação (Editora UFMG, 2009) and La experiencia opaca. Literatura y desencanto (FCE, 2009). Translated Gran sertón: veredas by Guimarães Rosa (with Gonzalo Aguilar), En libertad by Silviano Santiago, among others, and organized the Spanish version of Los sertones by Euclides da Cunha for Fondo de Cultura Económica.
