Descripción
Sumario:This paper aims to discuss the relation between proficiency exams and Language Policy which is seen as a broad concept involving dissemination devices in society. Two studies in different contexts are presented. The first one was carried out in a private regular school where the students preparation for international tests led to changes in the curriculum. The second investigation was done in a language center of a federal university set up as an action within the Science without Borders program. The results show the exams status given by the society and the washback effects which reflect the Language Policy device.
