| Sumario: | The purpose of this essay is to analyze the articulation between substances and avant-garde disruptions. For this, we relieve the aesthetic uses that the coca plant receives through a reformulation of the representative modes of indigenous heritage, directly linked to the construction of a stigmatizing representation. Churata and Chabes put into operation an operation to resignify this substance, linked in principle to the religious imaginary of the Andean subject, with the aim of putting into crisis the hegemonic formulations of a quasi-ethnographic narrative of the Indian and his imaginary as well as of the medical conceptions based on the interests of the pharmaceutical industry. To do this, they show the interpretative limits of a Eurocentric hygienicism capable of stigmatizing coca consumption not only by confusing it with cocaine but also by exclusively associating its effects with the increase in surplus value of extractivist initiatives. |
