Resumo:The social conflicts cannot be the object of a temporal analysis out of step with its creative phenomena. The historicity, the cultural and identity elements of the community are an integral part of the study of human conflicts. The paradigm of the colonization of western Santa Catarina – especially Chapecó, - is taken here, and the resumption of traditional lands by indigenous communities in the demarcation of the TI Toldo Chimbangue. It is not the intention of this essay to reconstruct the historical (and official) details about the objects of analysis, but the friction in the cultural shocks and the struggle for the possession of the land. The identification of litigants makes the perception that they are both victims of the colonization and developmental process projected by the Brazilian State at the end of the 19th century and in the decades that followed, and that the environmental use by the affected communities, be it economic or cultural, was never taken into account. analysis in progressive readings.
