| Sumario: | This study aimed to understand the perspective of adolescent children on their current stage of development, as well as on their relationship with their solo mothers. Ten adolescents who were sons or daughters of female single-parent families, simple or extended, from a municipality in the interior of Rio Grande do Sul participated in the study. The research was characterized as descriptive-exploratory and qualitative in nature. Regarding the instruments, a sociodemographic data sheet and an interview about being a teenage child in a solo mother family were used, which was analyzed using Content Analysis. The results found demonstrated that the adolescents in the study had a somewhat adultized view of themselves, possibly because they had preparatory experiences for the developmental tasks of the adult world. In general, they maintained a positive relationship with their mothers, with good communication. It was noted that some adolescents found it difficult to move away from the mother figure, to make new investments related to adolescence. Even though some complications were noticed, the child-solo mother relationship was considered to be of good quality and family health characteristics were present. Such findings can contribute to the development of professional practices and public policies that are non-stigmatizing and supportive of adolescent children and single mothers in our country. |
