Description
Summary:This article analyzes the Arab-Islamic scientific objectivity of the Mediterranean, based on the book Muqaddimah (1377), by the Maghrebi polymath Ibn Khaldun. The passages selected for research, which deal with the topic of science and knowledge, were examined based on the theoretical contribution of Lorraine Daston’s historical epistemology (2017). The results achieved were the emphasis given by Khaldun to the theoretical-methodological properties of knowledge, the delineation of its approximations and distances in relation to Aristotelianism and the elaboration of a scientific habit, which constitute aspects of the objectivity of Arab-Islamic knowledge in the Maghreb.
