Descripción
Sumario:His article intends to map the performance of the Libertador Party (PL) during the Brazilian democratic experience (1945-1964). It is common for academic production to treat PL as a “regional party” in that period, due to its history between 1928 and 1937, when it existed as a regional party in the state of Rio Grande do Sul. However, when Raul Pilla refounded the association in 1945, as required by the electoral legislation of that time, the PL needed to expand to other regions of the national territory. Based on this premise, the aim here is to map the nationalization of the PL during the democratic period between 1945 and 1964. It is shown, therefore, that his participation was not restricted to the state of Rio Grande do Sul, although he did not obtain, outside his state of origin, the same electoral success.
