Sumario:This article aims to discuss the concept of the subject present in the Base Nacional Comum Curricular (BNCC), linked to the idea of integral education, through the lens of Charles Taylor's ethics of authenticity. Using critical and documentary analysis of the BNCC's foundational elements related to integral education and Taylor's works, this study seeks to (i) understand what type of subject the Brazilian educational system is shaping, given that the BNCC guides national curricula; (ii) examine whether Taylor's philosophical ideas, particularly those in The Ethics of Authenticity, are reflected in the subjects shaped by the BNCC; and (iii) discuss how the malaise of modernity appears within the BNCC and how it hinders an authentic education. This analysis thus contributes to a reflection on the integral education proposed by the BNCC and on Taylor's concept of the singularity of the moral subject.
