| Sumario: | Gummy smile is an aesthetic condition that can affect facial harmony and impact patients' self-esteem. Among the available approaches for its treatment, the flapless technique stands out as a minimally invasive alternative, promoting satisfactory aesthetic results with less postoperative discomfort and rapid recovery. The objective of this study was to report a clinical case of gummy smile correction using the flapless technique in a fifteen-year-old patient from the city of Mato Verde-MG. The research had a qualitative approach with a descriptive/observational objective, carried out in the city of Mato Verde-MG at FAVENORTE. Approved by the Research Ethics Committee, with opinion number 7,486,340. A fifteen-year-old male patient attended the FAVENORTE dental clinic, accompanied by his guardian, seeking dental care. The patient reported as his main complaint “small teeth” and “showing too much gum when smiling”, expressing aesthetic dissatisfaction with his smile. The patient's anamnesis did not reveal any systemic impairment. During clinical examination, a generalized excess of gingival tissue was observed, which was more evident in the antero-superior region. Given the diagnosis of gummy smile due to excess gingival tissue, treatment with gingivoplasty associated with osteotomy using the flapless technique was chosen to recover the insertion space of the supracrestal tissues. The reported case showed that correction of the gummy smile using the flapless technique reduced surgical trauma and bleeding during the procedure, resulting in greater comfort for the patient in the postoperative period and a quick recovery. |
