| Summary: | Urban tourism is a set of tourist practices carried out in cities that attract tourists by offering an urban scene with different spaces and experiences. In this context, the objective of this research was to identify and analyze which images of São Paulo are propagated by public tourism bodies and how they are spatially distributed in urban space. The research gained theoretical-methodological consistency from a look at the so-called "mobilities turn", by considering imaginative mobilities as propagators of discourses. The methodology has a qualitative approach and is descriptive-exploratory in nature. To this end, we analyzed how the review of the 2023 Strategic Master Plan addresses tourism and the images of the nine versions of PLATUM (Municipal Tourism Plan), “SP: City of the World” (2017), in addition to the SETUR image bank (Secretariat of Tourism and Travel) and MTUR (Ministry of Tourism). After analyzing the spatialization and which categories the 155 images fall into, it was found that Avenida Paulista continues to be the great icon of São Paulo, despite there being some diversity in the imagery produced over the years and in the spatial dispersion. This type of work helps to understand how urban policies and tourism participate in the spatial production of tourism, starting with the projection of images that anticipate and stimulate desires for on-site experiences. |
