| Sumario: | The press is a powerful vehicle to allow the free manifestations of the human thought. Rio de Janeiro, for instance, was a malformed city till tlie beginning of its first press (1808); São Paulo initiated its cohordenation in newspaper in 1827; the city of Santos began to publish its first newspaper in 1848 with the “Revista Comercial”. Since that year, a great number of important names has given their contribution to Santos press-important names in Politics, Literature, Religion, Law, fighting by ideais of freedom both physical and intelectual. In 1900 “A Tribuna” is founded by Olympio Lima; this newspaper remains till our times and became one of the most important newspapers of Brazil. |
