| Summary: | The article is the result of a qualitative bibliographic essay. The objective was to highlight the relevance of Paulo Freire's thinking to think about the popular education. It is understood that the praxis of Paulo Freire contributes to the enhancement of educational practices of a progressive and popular character. The critical posture regarding traditional authoritarian methods in Brazilian education points to a democratic, liberating and egalitarian perspective, fecundated by dialogue, in the process of knowledge construction. Freire thinks about education with and from the popular classes. The centrality of his thinking continues in force and the dialogue and the active participation of the subjects can help to perceive the contradictions and the social reality in which, searching for transformation, learners and educators are inserted. |
