Sumario:The purpose of this paper is to analyse the concept of peace in Rousseau. To achieve this goal, we must bear in mind three important aspects of development: first, the context of the sixteenth and seventeenth centuries, based on two central questions of this time: the growth of inequality among human beings and the legitimacy of political absolutism; second, the proposal for European peace put forward by Abbé de Saint-Pierre’s; third, Rousseau’s project for European peace.
