| Sumario: | The papper seeks to situate historically and ethnographically a piece collected in the last quarter of the18th century by the expedition of Alexandre Rodrigues Ferreira. It is the Zoomorphic tray for the aspiration of the paricá narcotic poder collected between the Mawé around 1786, and mentioned by Ferreira also among the Mura, both groups of the Madeira-Tapajós area. When sending the piece to Lisbon the naturalista illustrated it with a brief description of the ritual and a plank representative of its use. Although known, the tray and the ritual, now extinct, have not yet been placed in relation to the history and ethnology of this area. Thus, from a dialogue between Anthropology and History this article presents the piece, its ornamentation and aspects that involved the ritual described by Ferreira in relation to some themes of mythology, ethnography and ethnohistory of the group and the área they occupy. |
