| Sumario: | Authenticity could be a key concept to the historical notion and configuration of Heritagepolicy, nationally and abroad. We intend here to present a critical debate, founded in a literature review followed by a case study. Starting from theoretical readings such as Muñoz Viñas, Lowenthal, García Canclini, Hafstein, Brumann, we discuss the meanings of authenticity on the scope of Charters, recommendations and other documents on Heritage. From this discussion, we analyze authenticity, in a historical-critical perspective, as a basic concept to inscription at the World Heritage List. Then we studytwo dossiers (2014-2017) submitted to UNESCO to inscript the Pampulha Modern Ensemble on that List. Finally, we question: even facing contradictions, why authenticity remains a criteria to UNESCO’s World Heritage policy? |
