| Resumo: | The aim of this article is to analyze the history of the equestrian statue of Pedro Ludovico Teixeira, doctor and politician who created the new Goiás city capital ofGoiânia State, in the 1930’s. Th e monument was commissioned in the early 1990’s and only in 2015 it was placed in a defi nitive place. During this period, the monument was surrounded by controversies, which revolved around two main points: the legitimacy of the statue and the place where it should be installed. These controversies, reported by the press, involved artists, environmentalists, historians and family members of the honoree. |
