Descripción
Sumario:The present study was conducted in order to determine sodium cyclamate concentrations in tabletop sweeteners, powdered sweeteners, diet/light soft drinks, diet/light teas, light yogurts, light nectars and dried mixture for light beverages, available in markets of Campinas city. Determination of this sweetener product was performed by ultraviolet spectrophotometry. Sodium cyclamate was quantitatively converted to N,N-dichlorocyclohexylamine, which was determined by measuring its UV absorption at 314 nm. Cyclamate concentration varied according to the analyzed matrix in a range from 64.9 to 95.0 mg/mL in tabletop sweeteners, 79.0 to 94.4 mg/g in powdered sweeteners, 36.1 to 101.1 mg/100mL in diet/light soft drinks, 22.7 to 54.0 mg/100mL in diet/light teas, 8.36 to 105.0 mg/100mL in light nectars, and 83.6 to 122.5 mg/100mL in light yogurts. The unique brand of mixture for beverages available, the mean quantity of this sweetener was 28.2 mg/100 mL. In general, sodium cyclamate concentration in the analyzed samples did not exceed the maximum limit established by the Brazilian Legislation.
