Sumario:The authors collected data from 89 necropsies on subjects with câncer of the stomach during the period 1954-1972. The majority of these patients had clinical history of 8-12 months duration usually 2, 3,4 and 6 months. Surgery was performed on 25% of the patients. Histologycal types frequently found were Adenocarcinoma (64%) Indiferenciated carcinoma (19,1%), Mucoproductor carcinoma (15,7%), 49,4% were ulcerated, 21,3% infiltrated and 16,8% mixt type. The most frequent localization was the Pylorus (49,4%), the Cardia (19,1%), the Fundus (11,2%) and in the all Stomach (12,3%). Metastasis were generalized, specially to the digestive tract (69,6%), Liver (67,4%), pancreas and peripancreatic tissue (66,6%). 57,3% of patients were male and 42,6% female. The age of most incidency was 50-69 years old.
