Sumario:The current article focuses on an experience of fascist propaganda abroad, specifically on the work of Mario Appellius, Cile e Patagonia. At first, we track some general characteristics of Mussolini’s propaganda (both national and international), particularly emphasizing the concept of fascist culture. Secondly, we address the issue of the fascist culture abroad, highlighting the mechanisms adopted by the Duce in order to increase his consensus. We then concentrate on the figure of Mario Appellius, by analyzing few chapters of his work dedicated to Chile, and by focusing on the author’s attitude towards the small Andean country. As a final point, we draw our conclusions by highlighting the most interesting aspects of this literary experience of fascist propaganda in Chile.
