Sumario:Memes are kind of the mainstream of the current period. In view of this, this work intends, while ensuring the communicative function of memes as a discourse notably found in digital social networks, to highlight their educational potential, that is, to reveal the contribution of this multimodal resource, with a language that is typical of multiliteracies, for the teaching and learning of Geography, making the classes of this discipline, in school spaces, attractive and capable of making the study of certain contents, sometimes abstract, generate concrete meanings in the daily life of the subjects of the process of teaching-learning. Therefore, since Cartography is a field of study in which geographic science is used to better elucidate the events and/or phenomena that occur in space, memes will be used/created with reference to the theme of scale, geographic coordinates, projections, time zones , between others. It starts from the need to give the student, through the mediation of the teacher, the possibility of approaching cartographic knowledge and apprehending it in a more meaningful way, based on this resource that students reveal to have a lot of contact in daily activities, as well as making use of it for communication and social interaction. Therefore, when presenting the intention to work with such contemporary texts in/for School Cartography, it means to say that they, when didactically based, enable a better apprehension of the forms with which the human being builds his space and transforms nature, raising the students' interest in what will be addressed in the classroom.
