Descripción
Sumario:Brazil possesses an excellent index of solar radiation mainly in the Northeast region and exactly in this region there is a great number of people with no access to the electrical grid living in isolated communities. Photovoltaic solar energy could be a convenient and effective solution for the electrification of such areas. In this article a brief historical about the generation and uses of electrical energy in different estates of the Brazilian northeast is made. A study about the technology of photovoltaic cells is also made culminating with the design of autonomous and hybrid photovoltaic systems. Technical considerations of operation and maintenance of such systems are also made.
