| Sumario: | The aim of this paper is to investigate the anthology of texts selected by the Olimpíada de Língua Portuguesa Escrevendo o Futuro [TN: Portuguese Language Olympiad Writing the Future] (OLPEF) to teaching the genre chronicle. We found theoretical support in the studies of Bakhtin ([1952-1953] 2016; [1934-1935] 2015; [1924] 2014), Cândido (1992), Sá (1997) and Bender & Laurito (1993) to present the constitution and characterization of this genre. Then we analyze the collection featured in the teaching materials of the 5th edition of OLPEF: the Collection (OLIMPÍADA, 2016) and the Teacher's Book The occasion makes the writer (LAGINESTRA, PEREIRA, 2016a, 2016b). The specificities of the corpus require the call for references from Applied Linguistics, in line with bakhtinian postulates, such as Rojo (2009) and Dalvi (2013). The criteria that guide our analysis are: the exploration of the theme the OLPEF proposed by selected chronicles; and the presentation of the diversity of chronicles regarding authorship, the aesthetic movement to which it is linked, the status of literacy practices, the support or media in which it circulates and its discursive dimensions (purpose, theme, structure and style). The results indicate that the collection featured of OLPEF represents the variety of chronicle speeches, but does not include the proposed theme. |
