| Resumo: | The holotype of Liolaemus melanops Burmeister, 1888 given as destroyed since several years, was luckily recovered at the Natural History National Museum of Buenos Aires, Argentina, and a new careful description is provided in this article. Its remarkable black pigmentation on head and belly is pointed out and the general distribution of such a unusual color pattern in Lizards, above all in Iguania, is briefly analyzed and commented. |
