Descripción
Sumario:The article examines the cultural conventions and the lifestyle of the Argentine social elite during the interwar years. The paper analyzes its features and changes, as well as its influence on the public image of the elite. In this sense, the paper proposes relationships between social distinction, moral criticism and legitimacy of the traditional elite, at a time defined by a profound change in the social structure of Argentina due to the appearance of a nascent mass society. The sources used are the social chronicles of Caras y Caretas, the largest circulation magazine in the period.
