Resumo:Brucella infection is frequently acquired through the respiratory route. The pathogen disseminates systemically from the lungs to infect peripheral organs. In this review we summarize the existing data on the pathogenesis of inhalational Brucella infection, the pulmonary immune response to the pathogen, and potential strategies for inducing protective lung immunity.
