Investigador independiente; ArgentinaResumen: En este artículo se señalan algunos aspectos de la situación de la moral católica a más de cuarenta años del Concilio Vaticano II. Éste fijó objetivos para la renovación de la moral que debían hacer posible la superación de las deficiencias metodológicas de la manualística post-tridentina. Las primeras décadas estuvieron marcadas por un enfrentamiento entre partidarios de la ética de la fe y de la moral autónoma, que se aplacó sólo por la intervención del Magisterio con la Encíclica Veritatis splendor, documento que ha significado un aporte esclarecedor, aunque incluye indebidamente las posiciones doctrinales criticadas en su sombrío diagnóstico sobre el mundo actual. Las investigaciones actuales sobre ética de la virtud constituyen la perspectiva más promisoria no sólo en el ámbito de la educación moral, sino también en el de la ética normativa.Abstract: This article shows some aspects of the situation of Catholic Moral Theology more than fourty years after the Vatican Council II. The Council established a set of objectives for the renewal of Moral Theology, in order to overcome the methodological deficiencies of the post-tridentine manualistic. The next two decades were marked by a dispute between the supporters of an “ethics of faith” and those of the “moral autonomy”, which came to an end only by the intervention of the Magisterium through the Encyclica Veritatis splendor. This document was an illuminating contribution to the debate, but extended its negative diagnosis of the contemporary world to the doctrines it criticized in a rather confusing way. The actual research on virtue ethics represents the most promising perspective not only in the realm of moral education but also in normative ethics.Pontificia Universidad Católica Argentina.
