Descripción
Sumario:Synthetic seismograms are used to investigate the nature of anelastic attenuation in the northern part of the Atlantic Ocean. The results obtained seem to indicate that the region situated between Spitsbergen and the station KTG in Greenland presents similar shear-velocity and anelastic attenuation models to those corresponding to a region > 23 m.y. of the Atlantip ocean. Assuming that the attenuation under the Knipovitch ridge is the same than that under most of the Mid-Atlantic ridge, it is found that a narrow zone of low-Q's can be no wider than 174 ±37 km.
