Sumario:The dominant modern communication systems involve the use of wireless technology to enable information sharing. RF and microwave systems are needed to send and receive digital information in the form of electromagnetic waves. The power amplifier block is a part of this RF system and is responsible of increasing the power of radio waves to be sent through the medium. The design of such amplifiers has been an important research topic since the technology emerged. The increase of electronic wireless devices produced significant growth in research, which in turn have helped to develop techniques that facilitate the design of power amplifiers. One of the first and most reliable techniques that facilitate power amplifier design is a load tuner named Load-Pull. A Load-Pull system is able to tune different loads at the output of a device. In the case of power amplifiers, the transistor is the most important element and the use of Load-Pull helps find the output load for which the maximum possible power is delivered. There are different ways to tune the load and different techniques to measure them, the choice depends on the application in which it is used. This thesis will investigate and implement the system called "Envelope Load-Pull" and verify its functionality with simulation results and contours measured with a passive Load-Pull tuner.
