Sumario:Introduction: Parents are a constant in adolescent´s lives. However, sometimes familiar relationships could be altered by several factors, such as conflicts or overprotection. WHO considers the suicide as a severe public health problem, mostly because its multifactorial causes Objective: establish the relationship between the functional perception of the family and the suicidal risk in high school teenagers of Aguascalientes. Methods: quantitative, correlational and prospective study in an Aguascalientes High School. Random sampling with a substitution of 287. Two instruments were used: Apgar Familiar and MINI Entrevista Neuropsiquiátrica Internacional, with a Cronbach alpha of 0.83 and 9.93 respectively. Results: 35.12 % of the sample presents a severe familiar dysfunction, 34 % presented a moderate familiar dysfunction, and 54 % presents a very functional family. A -.346 rho was reported, with a p-value of 0.00000 for the variables “Apgar familiar” and “suicidal risk. Conclusion: family perception has important influence on the suicidal risk. At higher perception of a functional family, the suicidal risk is lower. at a higher perception of a dysfunctional family, the suicidal risk is higher. However, other factors that causes suicidal risk should be consider.
