How the water recharge takes place and how natural and artificial discharges occur are also studied. The impacts on the system caused by artificial discharges are also analysed. The analysis includes the quantitative and qualitative state of groundwater based on the water bodies defined by the Catalan Water Agency. The problem of groundwater contamination by chlorinated solvents in the aquifer of the stream of Sant Pol de Mar is presented as an example of the pressures related to groundwater quality.
