Sumario:This paper focuses on the Tertiary deposits of the northern area of the Teruel Craben in the Alfambra-Villalba Alta area. The oldest Tertiary deposits are Palaeogene in age and outcrop very locally and unconformably on the Mesozoic deposits of the graben margins. Most of the sediments outcropping in this area are Pliocene in age and two main lithostratigraphic units are recognised. These units are equivalent to units IV and V, defined by Alcalá et al .(2000) for the overall Teruel Craben. Unit IV is formed by three subunits: lower detrital subunit, mixed subunit and Orrios carbonate subunit. The overall of these subunits represents a lateral change between coarse alluvial fan deposits to lacustrine environments. Unit V is formed by the upper detrital unit, which was deposited in a fluvial system flowing N-S
