| Sumario: | Thisworkcontainstheprocessfollowedtounderstandandsimulatehowaspeci csetofmaterials areactivated.Themainissueconsistsinhowtoshieldthesekindofmaterialstoensurethat anyonewillbeexposedtoharmfulradiation. Forthisspeci cproblem,theactivatedmaterialiscalledtarget.Itisacylindricalobjectplaced insideISISSynchrotrontobeirradiatedbyaprotonbeamof800MeVtogenerateneutrons, whichareusedtoperformexperiments. A modelhadtobedevelopedtoassurethatthisorfutureactivatedtargetswillbecorrectly shieldedandmanaged.Inordertodoitwasnecessarytounderstandthephysicsbehindionizing radiationsandhowtoimplementitinaMonte-Carlocode(FLUKA)toproduceaconsistent simulations. Theresultsofthemodelsimulationarecomparedwithasimilarstudypublishedthatuses MCNPX(anotherMonte-Carlocode),inassociationwiththeCINDER'90transmutationcode. Theresultsarealsocomparedwithmeasuredvalues.Bothcomparativeshaveaverygood match,whichmeansthatthemodelworks. Attheendofthisworktherearealsopossiblefutureworkingtokeepdevelopingthistopic. |
