Sumario:[EN] The present research work has as main theme the relief engraving animated. We have delimited the time and space as the title makes reference: Mexico since 1990. In order to expose such unknown theme we have also included the procedures for its realization, the filming and capture process in the analogical and digital video and film, the register characteristics, and advantages and disadvantages of each format. There are no specific books related with the relief engraving animated. The importance of this work lays on this fact. We clearly identify two focuses in this research work: one theoretical – historical and the other practical. About the theory – history we propose to analyze and explain the development to the relief engraving animated in Mexico since 1990. In the other side, the practical, we identified two problems: the way to make animation with relief engraving and the formats we can use to distribute it. About the procedures, we pretend to describe and illustrate the animation, relief engraving and digital imaging techniques, that we can use in the relief engraving animated. About the formats we are interested in describing filming and digital editing of relief engraving animated in the following formats: film, digital and analogical video; at the same time we wanted to evaluate the results for each one. The objectives of this work are the following: To analyze the development of the relief engraving animated in Mexico since 1990, to describe its realization in the country and time indicated, to specify the means to produce this kind of animation, to relate the technical procedures of relief engraving and traditional animation, to specify the characteristics and processes to film and digital editing, and to evaluate the register quality of relief engraving animated in each of the formats previously mentioned. The objectives have been fulfilled as the following describes. As a previous study, in the first chapter we look carefully at the development of animation and relief engraving. In the second chapter we review the animations made with this technique out of Mexico. In the third chapter we analyze the relief engraving animated that has been produced in Mexico since 1990, as our temporal delimitation specifies. The engravers than have experimented with this technique are: Mariestela Mendiola, Joel Rendón, Alejandro Villalbazo. With another goal we have the work of Demian Flores (engraver) and Andrea Alvarez (animator). In the last three chapters we explain the techniques to develop this kind of animation. In the fourth chapter we describe the techniques to animate the relief engraving. Relating and adapting different traditional techniques of animation and relief engraving we designed these procedures. In the fifth chapter we illustrate the steps to manipulate the relief-engraving image by computer. From the existing books and from personal experience we concluded the procedures that best fit for this kind of work. In the sixth and last chapter we explain how to film or to digital edit, after this we evaluate the results that we got for each of the formats (film, analogical video and digital video).
