| Sumario: | [EN] The restitution of sculptural pieces of ligneous support is a usual task in the restoration of wood sculptures. These losses are mainly due to anthropical reasons (bangs, moves, loutish acts, among others). However, they can also be due to some xylophagous insect attack. Mistakenly, in many contemporary interventions epoxy putties are used for this task which are toxic and no reversible. The present study has been designed in order to contribute to the development of new proposals in the production of wood fillers in the field of the restoration of ligneous sculptures. Bearing in mind the most important requirements that these putties must contain, such as a good adhesion, innocuousness as much for the piece as for the restorer, minimum contraction, stability and reversibility. Thus, in the first part of this project, a study about the wood fillers that have been used for the volumetric reinstating treatment in wood sculptures have been carried out. Therefore, all the different putties that have been used throughout the history –with their most important characteristics- have been brought together in a synthetised way. In the second part of this project, different materials have been prepared and studied in order to develop new wood fillers used in wood sculptures with the minimum required in the field of Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Heritage, such as innocuousness, reversibility, little toxity, among others. In order to carry out this task, Acril 33® acrylic gum has been used, together with different materials such as hollow glass microspheres, wood dust and cut glassfibre cables. The optimized and selected putties used in this experimentation have gone through a first test of accelerated ageing by UV light radiation as well as evidences of hygrometric accelerated ageing in order to study their adhesion resistance and value their behavior throughout the time. |
