Sumario:Earthquakes may have severe short-term negative effects on the impacted urban centres and adverse long-term consequences for their economic growth. A procedure is proposed to study the seismic vulnerability of urban neighbourhoods to improve their resilience. Seismic hazard is evaluated using vulnerability indexes. The results are implemented into a GIS software in order to obtain visual maps to depict possible damage scenarios. The proposed procedure is applied for validation to the Eixample District of Barcelona.
