| Sumario: | The most recent <i>Ratio Fundamentalis Institutionis Sacerdotalis</i> (2016), in full harmony with the Magisterium of Pope Francis, gives immense importance to the category of “discernment”. Specifically, it is employed to illuminate two aims of the priestly formation deeply united with each other: to guarantee the access to the priesthood for suitable persons and to train them to undertake the priestly ministry with due competence. The present study will analyze the keys that the new Ratio provides for a better education, having both aims of the priestly formation in view. |
