Resumo:Education is a constant process that develops a set of knowledge, values and skills in the human being, being the teachers who must be in constant preparation, to develop critical, reflective thinking in the students. In this context, one of the problems evidenced in the institution reveals great shortcomings of teachers in the teaching-learning process, therefore, the great impact is the use of traditional strategies, which does not contribute to developing learning in children, This is why the teacher continues to be the only actor in the class, due to the fact that memorization and transcription of concepts are encouraged. In this sense, the objective of the research is to propose active strategies aimed at the development of reading and writing to strengthen communication skills in the 5th grade of the School of Basic Education "Loja".
