Sumario:Objectives: To compare the therapeutic effects of ultrasound therapeutic and low level laser therapy in the treatment of sciatic nerve injury in Rattus norvegicus. Methods: GC: Not subject to injury and no treatment; GU: 15 rats were divided into 3 groups were used underwent sciatic nerve injury and treated with UST and GL: submitted to sciatic nerve injury and treated with 904 nm laser during 21 days. Were evaluated by IFC, through the footprints collected at 7, 14 and 21 days PO preoperatively. Results: Comparison of the SFI values between the three groups indicated a significant difference between group II and group III during the 21 days of treatment, with p < 0.05. Conclusion: Radiation from GaAs laser (904 nm) of low intensity was more effective on the regeneration of motor neurone Wistar after Axonotmesis compared to ultrasound therapy.
