| Sumario: | This research aimed to explore the theme of the sanction application in libraries, specifically, in university libraries. In order to accomplish this, the investigation included a literature review about the theme on the subjects of Librarianship and Laws and the study case of the Biblioteca Central da Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (BC – UFRPE). The case study occurred through the collection of information in the Sistema de Bibliotecas da Universidade Federal Rural de Pernambuco (SIB-UFRPE) official website and with the application of questionnaires to the library director and the users of BC-UFRPE in order to verify their respective positions and perceptions in relation to the sanctions. It was found, based on the literature, that the Brazilian university libraries, in general, maintain traditional positions in relation to the sanctions, which are consisted in these cases as punitions. Considering that, with the accomplishment of the case study, it was aware that BC-UFRPE has working in the last few years on the sanction added to a mayor project, not as a merely punitive resource, which contributes to the education and formation of the user community. |
