| Summary: | This thesis is circumscribed in the sexual dynamics of Exu in the sacret Umbanda “terreiros” located in Viçosa, Alagoas. It refers to its symbolic aspect, it’s erotic activity, it’s historycal resignifications and it’s assignments in the holy territory of Viçosa’s Umbanda. I search to comprehend the multiple existing relations, as well as it’s multiple meanings, it’s symbolisms and it’s variations inside of the religious cosmology of Umbanda through the perspective of four leaderships. Exu’s thematic core, it’s diabolical, bad, ambigous, cheating and a lot controversial aspect inside and out of the “terreiros will be worked here. Certainly the Exu’s sexual power symbolisms were approached from the classics since the Nina Rodrigues, through Arthur Ramos, Edison Carneiro, Roger Bastide and Pierre Verger, and others, But I remain in the relectures of this sexual aspects of Exu in view of the external and internal influences in the development of the practices in the brazilian territory in the late XX century, and in the current cult dynamics through those four religious leaderships. I crave to study the sexual attributes of Exu, it’s readaptations and recontextualization of practical metamorphosis in the Viçosa’s developed Umbanda cosmology. So, from a historical-antropologic perspective, in the field of Science of religions, particularly in the empirical Science of the religions subárea, I search to realize the narratives about the sexual dynamics of Exu, and cosmovision built from the daily activities of the four leaderships in different generations. magical-religious services, the narratives and looks of four religious leaderships, from different genarations. In the end, I hope to demonstrate how it configures the sexual dinamism of Exu in this countryside Umbanda, in the northeast of Brazil. |
