Descripción
Sumario:Objective: This article seeks, through a literary review, a view on how we perceive the caregiver of elderly people with Alzheimer's Disease. Just as the whole family needs to structure their way of life with the discovery of the disease, the caregiver needs attention, as over time caring for elderly people with AD, the formal or informal caregiver can cause diseases that can harm their lives socially, psychologically and biologically. Method: A bibliographic search was carried out on articles, magazines and books in order to search for a new vision for caregivers of elderly people with AD. Results: Alzheimer's disease is a degenerative disease that affects all areas of the elderly's life and the need for caregivers for a long time is of real need for families. The article seeks a new vision for the caregiver, as the quality and commitment of care for the elderly with AD can decrease if the caregiver is ill. Final considerations: The caregiver needs care and a support network and self-care can improve the quality of life of the caregiver.
