Sumario:The search for improvement in terms of justice in football has caused the institutions that organize competitions to review their methods. A technology used in other sports, the video system, started to appear in the matches along with the implementation of the video referee assistant (VAR). The objective of the study was to analyze whether the interference of VAR in the games changed the final result of the Brazilian Championship of 2019, where the bids were quantified and qualified. The data consisted of 380 games over 38 rounds. Data collection was carried out from a sports website and accounted for in a spreadsheet. VAR interference occurred in 81 games, with 44 goals annulled, 18 goals validated, 37 penalties scored and converted. After the analysis, it was concluded that the intervention of the video referee assistant was decisive for the classification of the championship. Improvement methods in the use of technology should be studied, in order to emphasize the central purpose of the idea.
