| Resumo: | Objective: To investigate the literature about its main constituents and current evidence of the pharmacological potential of Lippia gracilis Schauer. Method: This is an integrative literature review. Searches were carried out in the following electronic databases: SciElo, SciVerse Scopus, EMBASE, Web of Science, DOAJ, DataCite Commons, PubMed and LILACS. As inclusion criteria, articles were considered within the period of 15 years (2008 to November 2023) with full visualization available, while, for exclusion, the following criteria were used: articles repeated in the search, reviews and works tangential to the guiding question or with inconsistent results. Results: The main pharmacological activities are: healing, antioxidant, antimicrobial, antiparasitic, anti-inflammatory, antinociceptive and cytotoxic. The leaves of this plant are normally prepared by infusion or decoction and consumed in the form of teas. Additionally, they can also be soaked in alcohol for topical use. Final considerations: Therefore, to better understand the pharmacological attributes of this plant, extensive research was carried out. The main focus of these studies has been to examine the therapeutic effects of the plant's essential oil, particularly when extracted from its leaves. |
