Description
Summary:This article aims to survey aspects of the formulation of the diagnosis of autism and identify its relationship with psychosis, from classical psychiatry to the current status of the topic. Therefore, it will be possible to locate the way in which the problem posed to the field of psychoanalysis was constituted: would autism be a specific structure or a condition associated with psychosis? Therefore, the methodology is based on a bibliographical review of classic and current references, limited to the field of psychiatry and psychoanalysis, towards the proposed objective. In autism research, the need for discussion around the presence of autism in contemporary clinical practice as a counter to psychopathology that tends to become rigid in terms of its guiding assumptions is identified. But they can pose limitations to clinical practice. The question that remains is how the stabilization mechanisms of autism and psychosis can be compared and the relevance of this comparison for updating the psychoanalytic clinic.
