Sumario:Leporinus amae is only known from its type locality the Rio Apuaê in Brazil, a tributary of the Río Pelotas, Río Uruguay Basin. The original description of this species was mainly based on one specimen lacking intraspecific variation in meristic and morphometric of most characters. We report the first record of Leporinus amae from the río Uruguay basin in Argentina and give a supplementary description of the species.
