| Sumario: | A distint new species of <i>Liolaemus</i> endemic to the isolated tablelands south the glacial Lago Buenos Aires, Santa Cruz Province, Argentina, is described. It is a member of the Patagonian <i>L. archeforus</i> species group, in which it may be distinguished by its small size, exceptionally high number of scales at midbody, and a distinctive color pattern. <i>Liolaemus sarmientoi</i> and <i>L. gallardoi</i>, formerly recognized as subspecies of <i>L. archeforus</i>, and <i>L. baguali</i> and <i>L. somuncurae</i>, formerly recognized as subspecies of <i>L. kingii</i>, are elevated to full species. |
